Reading/Writing
- This year in reading and writing we will be doing a lot of
work! We will be reading texts with deeper meanings and we will learn to pull
evidence from the text to foster higher level thinking! We will also develop strategies to help us
with reading and writing and will learn to support greater independence and
fluency through intensive reading and writing opportunities. We will be reading both independently, in
book clubs and as well as read alouds! I am very excited to see your growth as
5th graders and I know with all the hard work you will put in, we
will all grow together!
- Each night, students will be required to read independently,
and write a reading response. This
homework will help you child foster his or her own independence as 5th
graders as well as expand your child’s reading! Be sure to have discussions
with your child about their reading as well, as this will help them grow as
readers.
